The factory induction lid has square air silencers on on each side. It makes the air entering the engine quieter but at the cost of lower air velocity. Aftermarket companies sell induction lids that do not have the silencers. That results in better flow characteristics and more power. Check out the pics of the factory lid, Direct Flo lid and the intake path from hood to throttle body for "cool air" effect. Its not a true ram air system. You can find the lid at LS1Motorsports
